2020 Presidential election Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass! Mo Brooks, speaking at the Save America rally, January 6, 2021 © 2021 Kwiple.com
Elites When elites leave their homelands, they typically go to stable countries with long-term horizons. In good times, the rich want a weak state with low tax and little regulation, but in bad times they prefer strong states. That's why the countries with the highest influx of foreign brains per capita are Aus- tralia, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Canada, according to the Fund for Peace. The safe haven of the American super- -rich in case the US collapses is social democratic New Zealand. Simon Kuper, Financial Times, July 29, 2021 © 2021 Kwiple.com
Facts I'll never apologize for the United States of America, ever. I don't care what the facts are. George H. W. Bush © 2016 Kwiple.com
Inequality [T]hose who find themselves in the worst positions have the most pressures to find legitimacy in the social order. The alternative —believing that the system is unjust, unfair, or even random— is in fact painful and generates more stress. Approving of the system  therefore serves a “palliative function,” even though in practice it discourages seeking beneficial changes that might concretely redress exising inequalities.  Francesco Duina, Broke and Patriotic, summarizing social justification theory  © 2018 Kwiple.com

Nationalism To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain “the last best hope of earth” for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that America consigned to the ash heap of history. Patriotism For me to give up hope on the country in which I live  is almost to give up hope for self. So I gotta keep the light burning for me and for my country or I'm gonna be in the dark.   Shirley, a poor woman in Birmingham, AL, quoted in Broke and Patriotic by Francesco Duina © 2018 Kwiple.com

Patriotism Smart Americans are uneasy with patriotism.  It’s an unpleasant relic of a more primitive time, like cigarette smoke or dog racing. It stirs emotions that can have ugly consequences.  The winners in Smart America — connected by airplane, internet, and investments to the rest of the globe — have lost the capacity and the need for a national identity, which is why they can't grasp its importance for others. … The … problem is that abandoning patriotism to other narratives guarantees that the worst of them will claim it. Sexual harassment Giuliani often demanded that she work naked, in a bikini, or in short shorts with an American flag on them that he bought for her. When they were apart, they would often work remotely via videoconference, and during those conferences Giuliani almost always asked her to remove her clothes on camera. He often called from his bed, where he was visibly touching himself under a white sheet. Villains say They [Congressional Democrats] were like, death. And un-American. Un-American. Somebody [pointing to the audience] said, “treasonous.” I mean, yeah, I guess, why not? Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean they certainly didn't seem to love our coutnry very much.
