2016 Presidential election The 472 counties won by Hillary Clinton in 2016 spanned only a small part of the acreage of the United States, but they produce 64 percent of all US output. The 2,584 counties won by Trump produce only 36 percent of US output. David Frum, Trumocalypse  © 2020 Kwiple.com

COVID-19 coronavirus  Ignoring common sense never used to be an anglophone stereotype. What separates the US and the UK from other democracies is extravagant self-belief. Half a millennium of potted history tells Anglo-Americans they are destined always to be on the winning side.  It blinds both to how the rest of the world increasingly views them, which is with sadness and growing mockery.  Edward Luce, Financial Times, July 9, 2020 © 2020 Kwiple.com
Fashion There is something that I have been meaning to tell you. It will make all the difference in your life, I promise you. … You must always wear shoes the same color as your hose. It has been my secret for years. Audrey Hepburn to Susanna Moore, the writer © 2020 Kwiple.com
Kwiplers say Calculate the minimum wage as follows: MW = CMHI / CMHS × WPY × HPW where: MW = Minimum Wage CMHI = Current Median Household Income, e.g., $65,000 CMHS = Current Median Household Size, e.g., 2.1 people WPY = Workdays Per Year, e.g., 240 HPW = Hours Per Workday, e.g., 8 [MW would be $16.12 using data above] © 2019 Kwiple.com
Kwiplers say Count votes in Congress by: 1. Calculating a Member's Proportional Vote (MPV) for each member, as follows: MPV = SPNP / NLRS where: SPNP = State's Percentage of the National Population NLRS = Number of Legislators Representing the State (in that legislature) 2. Totaling “yes” MPVs and “no” MPVs 3. Passing if total MPV is more than 50 OTHERWISE Abolish the Senate © 2019 Kwiple.com
Nation-states American conservatives take pride in their nation but mistrust their nation's state. American liberals value the state, but feel discomfort with the concept of “nation.” Yet it is the power of the state that makes of the nation something more than a phrase of speech; it is the idea of the nation that legitimates the power of the state. New York City Only 12% of the roughly 1.1 million employee-based and nonemployer businesses in New York City received a PPP loan, according to the report set to be released Wednesday. By comparison, more than 20% of businesses in states that were less economically affected by the pandemic – like North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska – got federal aid, the report says, based on roughly three months of federal data on the program through June 30. Political inequality … by 2040, 70 percent of the American population will live in fifteen states. Thirty percent of the population will live in thirty-five states. Think about what this means. That widely distributed 30 percent will be disproportionately white, dispropor- tionately nonurban, disproportionately older than fifty years of age. They will control seventy seats in the US Senate, enough to override a presidential veto. If they all support the same candidate for president, that candidate will begin every election with 40-vote head start in the 538-vote Electoral College. The 30 percent who live in thirty-five states are only three states short of the num- ber necessary to amend the US Constitution. David Frum, Trumpocalypse  © 2020 Kwiple.com
Political inequality In an August 2019 op-ed in defense of the legislative filibuster, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell  invoked the authority of Thomas Jefferson: “great innovations should not be forced on slender majorities.” But as it is, even great  majorities are prevented from pursuing even small  innovations. As of 2018, the fifty states and the Dis- trict of Columbia were home together to 327 million people. A law passed by Sena- tors representing 290.4 million of them can effectively be vetoed by Senators re- presenting 36.6 million … or 11 percent. David Frum, Trumpocalypse  © 2020 Kwiple.com

Post-2018 Senate shituation 15 states (Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming) 2018 population: 40,056,961 Senators: 30 Republicans 1 Senator per 1,335,232 people 1 state (California) 2018 population: 39,776,830 Senators: 2 Democrats 1 Senator per 19,888,415 people 19,888,415 / 1,335,232 = 16, therefore: average 15er's vote is worth 16 times a Californian's, a Californian's vote is worth 6% of an average 15er's 1 state (Wyoming) 2018 population = 573,720, therefore: 1 Senator per 286,860 Wyomians, a Wyomian's vote is worth 69 times a Californian's, a Californian's vote is worth 1.4% of a Wyomian's © 2016 Kwiple.com

Science If science can do anything, it is precisely to uproot and destroy any such thing  as a “meaning”! And forget about science or academic knowledge as a path “to God” – these are precisely the forces hostile and foreign to God. No one – whether he admits it or not – can doubt in his heart of hearts that this is what the sciences are. Selfie So it sort of is curious. A man works for us, with us, very closely, Dr. [Anthony] Fauci and Dr. [Deborah] Birx also, very highly thought of — and yet, they're highly thought of, but nobody likes me? It can only be my personality, that's all. Donald Trump, July 28, 2020 © 2020 Kwiple.com

Trump's philosophy of life It's called “get even.” Get even. This isn't your typical business speech. What this is, is a real business speech. You know in all fairness to Wharton, I love ’em, but they teach you some stuff that's a lot of bullshit. When you're in business, you get even with people that screw you. And you screw them 15 times harder. And the reason is, the reason is, the reason is, not only, not only, because of the person that you're after, but other people watch what's happening. Trumpism When scientists examine a species that resembles another, but only incompletely or imperfectly, they add the suffix oid. A chemical compound that's not quite an alkaline is an alkoloid;  an orbiting space rock not quite a planet is a planetoid. In the same way, Trump and his ilk are fascoid  — near it,  but not quite the same, a failure even as fascists. David Frum, Trumpocalypse  © 2020 Kwiple.com
Trumpists They brought the Trumpocalypse upon the country and a post-Trumpocalypse country will have to find a way to either reconcile them to democracy — or to protect democracy from them. David Frum, Trumpocalypse  © 2020 Kwiple.com
Trumpists say “My family and colleagues told me that when I have kids I'll think about the separations differently. But I don't think so … DHS sent me to the border to see the separations for myself — to try to make me more compassionate — but it didn't work.” “It didn't work? I will never forget what I saw. Seriously. Are you a white nationalist?” I asked exasperated. “No, but I believe if you come to America you should assimilate. Why do we need to have ‘Little Havana’?”  Katie Miller,  former DHS spokesperson, quoted by Jacob Soboroff in his book, Separated, about Trump's child separation policy © 2020 Kwiple.com
Wannabe autocrats say With Universal Mail-in Voting (and Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 wil be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history.
